Chapter 17
Interrogation
Once the divine beast departed, Vi approached Koji. "You seem to have a good relationship with the Immortal Phoenix," she began her inquiry. The arachnid originally planned to engage in conversation with the creature to learn more about Flayme, but Zelea's wild accusation soured the Phoenix' mood to entertain further discussions with strangers. Thus, Vi wisely left the divine beast alone and refocused her attention to Koji instead.
"That's one way of putting it," Koji agreed amicably. While he didn't wish to hide his relationship with Flayme, Koji won't elaborate on their relationship voluntarily either. The young man worried that his two wives would become jealous if he discussed Flayme at length. And sure enough, his fear came to fruition.
Zelea opened her eyes and asked, "Can you tell us what happened inside the cave?"
"How did your physical appearance change so much?" Daethix added.
The three of them were bewildered by the physical changes in Koji. His hair turned red, his dancer-like physique became buffed, and his skin emanated a faint, golden aura which radiated power and authority. They waited until the divine beast returned to her lair before they began their inquisition of Koji.
The young man smiled. He realized Zelea, Daethix, and Vi felt intimidated by Flayme and waited until she left. Koji pondered how to address the issues; he decided on a straightforward approach. "Let me begin by reading to you my Menu report," he offered and then proceeded to read his screen in its entirety.
Once they heard the report, Zelea and Daethix stared at Koji with mixed emotions. He entered the Reid Rose Pinnacle as a powerful Bonder but entirely under their control. However, he returned as an uncontrollable monster! Vi, on the other hand, kept a neutral facial expression.
Daethix felt upset because Koji's Indomitable Spirit reached the Master Tier, and now her Telekinesis had less than 50% chance of working against him. And if Koji actively concentrated on resisting her Qi manipulation, then her odds of success will drop even further. In the past, the tyrant used her domination over him to control Koji because she viewed him like a wild horse requiring her to tame. And she took secret delight in domineering such a powerful man.
Although Koji submitted to the Bonding Ritual as her equal, now the dynamic in their relationship had tilted significantly in his favor. If he wakes up one morning and decides to force himself on her, then Daethix would be powerless to resist. He would easily overpower her with his 250,000 Attack Power, and her Telekinesis would be useless in fending him off.
That said, Daethix was a proud lamia who learned to use her feminine charms against men. She was confident that Koji's personality hadn't changed, and that his sense of Honor would make him obey her because Daethix was his wife. Thus, she gave him a radiant smile while eyeing him like a cat watching a mouse.
Koji noticed the weird look and involuntarily shivered. He felt uncomfortable being stared at by Daethix. She was an enigma that Koji couldn't hope to understand.
